HER COUSIN ELIZABETH |
Good Morning, Dan. :-)
Hiya, Mary-Lou! Too bad you’re not “Mary-Liz”. Then, we’d include a photo of you.
My grandmother was “Mary-Liz”. :-)
All very beautiful and thanks for the fenster.
#5 by the late 15th c. prolific German Master sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider is a favorite of mine. Although wood was his primary medium, he also sculpted in marble, limestone and alabaster.
If I keep listening to you, Alba (and I intend to), eventually I will have learned something.
To clarify: by “eventually” I mean I am a slow learner.
The success of the artists (those that made the effort) in illustrating the age difference between Mary and Elizabeth is notable.
Wonderful presentations...thank you.
Well noted.
In my view, those capturing both the age and gestational differences (Elizabeth was six months further along, with Mary not yet "showing") are the most successful.
Wonderful.
Good.
the heathen cats and I vote for #23 as most amazing sculpture today
a lot of best in show glass
How wonderful that people or churches sponsored these artists to make Bible pictures that would last through the centuries.
How wonderful that you would collect them and share them with us.
thank you again!

Evidence of the Holy Spirit working.

Greetings Dan; you’ve posted some of your best yet!
Love each one, but greatly love #11; is this fired clay?
Della Robbia is a favorite. Could find little in English on this, but this looks ceramic- maybe etabeta knows.
What’s the scale? It is life-size? I’m guessing the pieces are not connected, and can be slightly ‘arranged’. Such God-given talent is humbling to behold.
Many Sincere Thanks Dan !!
I checked the source-page, and it doesn't specify.
Leon is curious, Alba.
Thank you for checking Dan.
I expect you have learned by now that I just post ‘em—I don’t actually know anything at all about them. There are several who do.
The statues at #11 could be in stone or fired clay. It is part of a series from St. Mary Church in Hamburg. Dan can use the others for his threads.

Della Robbia Family were celebrated for their innovative ceramic works. Here is an article on the Visitation.
